Purchasing Manager

We are looking for a Purchasing Manager, someone who would like to grow a successful, fulfilling career as part of our team.

You will manage the purchase of plastic prime raw material, additives, recycled intermediate and scrap. Creating a robust supply chain with the emphasis on long term contracts at the best overall economic value, whilst taking advantage of short-term spot lot opportunities. In line with the strategic plan.

This is a unique role within the Commercial Team rather than a Purchasing department as we operate in a dynamic market with a finite raw material supply: Teamwork is required between sales and purchase to achieve the financial KPI’s.

In addition to the purchase of plastic raw materials, key volume production consumables will be included in the role.

You will be joining a team who are motivated to retain and build on our position as leaders in the industry. Primary responsibilities will include:
  • To ensure the best overall economic level of stock is maintained to meet demand in a timely manner without interruption to production
  • To maintain an agreed contribution level between purchase and sales price
  • To achieve commercially advantageous terms from our suppliers and maintain key supplier relationships
  • To maintain and present a weekly report on the market data internal and external on which actions can be taken
  • Create purchase agreements for the supply of masterbatch and additives that is reviewed and actioned daily against the production plan. To best overall value with minimum on site stock.
  • To visit suppliers and present the opportunities the company offers to develop mutually advantageous partnerships.
  • To report monthly to the Board on the trend, current and future purchase strategy
  • Coach and mentor and plan development & succession within the team
You must be self-motivated, and target driven, with the ability to work on your own initiative, as well as part of a close and supportive team. You will be able to communicate professionally and effectively, whilst always operating with respect to our Company values and continuous improvement activities. A positive attitude and careful attention to detail when upholding safety and quality standards within the work environment is essential.

The hours of work will be Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.30pm with a competitive salary on offer, which will be dependent on experience.
